PRESIDENT’S SPEECH
SEASON 13-14 SUMMARY

Dear members,
The season 2013/14 has been full of contrasts. A season marked by a series of negative events, many of these non-sporting related, and some of which we will never forget. A series of events which, by their coincidence over time, have complicated the management of the Board which I have the honour of chairing.

In just a few months, facts and situations have occurred that have tested our institution: the departure of President Sandro Rosell, the Messi and Neymar court cases, the FIFA sanction, provisionally postponed, the cruel injury to Victor Valdes, and Captain Carles Puyol’s leaving, amongst others. Finally, the worst news of all, the death of Tito Vilanova, an irreparable loss that has united all Barcelona followers.

If FC Barcelona has been able to overcome all these clusters of negative situations in a few short months, we believe that it has been possible thanks to the maturity of the institution and the extraordinary strength of its social masses. Without doubt, Barça is now much stronger than before.

Sporting results for the sports sections over the season have been brilliant, with a total of 14 titles won; the most number of titles in recent years, and the last one was the ACB crown against Real Madrid, with the support of the Palau. We should also give special mention to the Barça B team, the U18’s, and the youth teams, who had their best season ever. But the season is marked by the fact that the first team did not get the desired results, although we were fighting right to the end.

The Board is aware that neither sporting success nor economic stability are enough to make the club a model institution. For this, we need a satisfied social masses, strong, proud to be representing Barça, and, above all, feeling that the Club belongs to its members, making them feel close, and feel that they are being listened to, and that they have a share in major decisions that affect our future and that they can actively participate in the life of the institution.

The Club is enjoying extraordinary social health, with 153,458 members, 1,267 Supporters Clubs, and 130 million followers on social networks. Great proof of this social strength was the unanimous approval by referendum of the New Espai Barça. The Espai Barça will become the base for the Club for the next 50 years, in addition to helping us increase our assets.

The culmination of the updated membership list and the reform of our Statutes have brought us up-to-date, and reinforce our uniqueness as a club.

We are restructuring the club, reducing the debt, and we have consolidated profits for the third consecutive year, and have achieved record revenues thanks to the fact that the Barça brand has enormous potential.

We want to look forward with illusion what want to achieve in the next two years. We have a clearly defined roadmap.

Firstly, we will improve the competitiveness of all the sections, starting with the first team. We want to try and to win again all competitions in which we participate. Bringing in Luis Enrique is a demonstration of what we expect from the team this year: maintaining the Barça style and strengthening our competitiveness and capacity to do battle. We will have to do it without some of the iconic players, who for various reasons have left us this year. It is the law of life.

Some are leaving and others are joining. We will bring in players who adapt to our philosophy bit also bring new things. You already know some of them, and I can’t say any other names due to strategic marketing reasons, but I am sure they will enthuse all Barça followers.

We have Messi, Neymar, and Iniesta, three of the best players in the world, who will form the backbone of a unique, and very solid, team.

Secondly, we will continue strengthening our social vocation, providing more and better services to our members. We will continue to strengthen accessibility as one of the pillars of the Club, understanding accessibility as the opening up of the Club to everyone, regardless of their abilities or conditions. To do this we will provide more resources for our Specialised Services Office, as the backbone and impulsors of access to the Club. Also we wish to finish the project 'Supporters Clubs for the XXI Century', launched in 2010, and aiming to continue elevating the Supporters Club brand.

Thirdly, we will start the implementation of the Espai Barça Project, widely accepted by the members, with all necessary means.

In the fourth place, we will continue with the financial strategy of recent years, which has placed us in a strong financial position and with extremely solid assets. To obtain new resources we will continue to strengthen our marketing and commercial areas at a global level.

In fifth place, and faced with the new challenges, we are strengthening our executive capacity, to make even more efficient the professional management of the Club.

Sixth, we will intensify our presence in the federation organisms, both national and international, to protect more effectively the rights and the image of our Club.

In seventh place, we will continue developing the global actions of our Foundation, an entity that transmits values ​​through sport. From their actions up to now more than 400,000 children in 46 countries, over 4 continents, have benefited.

These are the key areas that will serve to mark the path we must follow. A few days ago, in a meeting with the Barça Senate, the oldest members of the Club, I said that our leadership would not be gaudy. Ours is, and will be, a strong and wise leadership.

I want to transform the club. I want to make it more effective. And for this I improve sporting areas, and executive management.

Members of FC Barcelona, we will leave behind an era knowing what to improve and ready to face the future with strength and wisdom, providing the tools needed to improve the management of the institution, and face the sporting, economic, social, and heritage challenges, that will ensure that Barça remains the best club in the World.

Hvor var det egentligt vildt. Spændende at se hvor mange af de unge guldfugle, som kan blive til en gylden generation igen på førsteholdet de næste år.

Det kan være, at fiaskoen under VM gør dem bedre fremadrettet. De gamle helte takker af og gør plads til de nye. Det er muligvis det samme vi ser i Barca. Vi skulle have en dårlig sæson før de nødvendige ændringer blev indført.

Du har helt sikkert en pointe men selvom at vi måske rent spillemæssigt ikke har haft den bedste sæson, var vi altså kun en kamp fra at vinde hhv. ligaen og pokalen. Vi ku altså havet lavet en trible af hjemlige trofæer, så det skal lige tages med et gran salt. Desuden tror jeg vi får kæmpe komplekser hvis vi bliver ved med at tro på at holdet kan genfinde det samme niveau fra under Pep, for det tror jeg ikke kommer til at ske. Men lidt under kan også gøre det for mig.

I dette tilfælde vil en Ini så overtage mere og mere af den der rolle Xavi havde?

Har også tænkt tanken med Suarez som midtangiber og så med en mere tilbagetruken rolle til Messi. Men vi har ikke nogen naturlig afløser for Xavi, og tror ikke Ini skal udføre Xavis rolle. Tværtimod kunne jeg forestille mig Messi kunne trække tilbage for at deltage i det kreative opbyggende spil, sammen med Rakitic og Ini. Messi er jo genial som playmaker.

Not only was Corbella working at FCB for the last 35 years. His father used to take care of the Camp Nou pitch.

Zubi even cried while giving the news to Corbella. Unlikely Luis Enrique was told about this departure. #CatRadio

Der er noget galt, synes jeg. Det virker som om, denne ledelse fra starten har haft en mission om, at gøre op med nogle af de traditioner der har kendetegnet Barca i så lang tid. At han f.eks. har været ansat i klubben i over 35 år, vidner om det sammenhold der har været i klubben, det vidner også om at klubben er som en stor familie, en af grundene til at man bruger Mes Que Un Club. Denne filosofi er de ved at gøre op med.

Det startede med Pep, hvor de satte deres talsmand til at angribe hans person. Noget som Pep svarede på, og beskyldte Rosell og resten af ledelsen for, at de istedet for at gå direkte til angreb, bruger andre til det. Klamt. Flere og flere sponsorer, Qatar indflydelse og en hel masse andre ting.

Denne ledelse minder på rigtig mange punkter Florentino Perez, det er trist.

Kan godt huske at have set ham før. Personligt har jeg intet imod sponsorerne udover de er grimme da jeg ser det som en del af moderne fodbold. Men ja ledelsen har lavet så meget andet lort.
